Between July 16th – 22nd 2024, the University of Sarajevo and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) will organize the 9th edition of the Danube Rectors’ Conference (DRC) Summer School – The Western Balkans and the complexity of today’s world, an intensive program dedicated to students and young researchers. The Summer School will be hosted in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The call is open to all researchers registered in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD study program, who are interested in subjects related to the countries of Central Europe, East and South-East. In addition, during the summer school, the participants will have the opportunity to share the specific research results concerning the themes of the Danube Region and European integration.

Selected candidates will be informed by June 15th 2024.

There will be no registration fee for the Danube Rectors’ Conference (DRC) Summer School, and the costs of accommodation and meals will be supported by the organizers. At the same time, attendants will receive a transport grant of up to 200 €.
The general themes discussed during the Summer School
The main themes which will be approached during the Summer School are: The Western Balkans and European integration – an unfulfilled promise; Labor, mobility, manpower – is the Western Balkans turning into a human desert?; Reconciliation, Resilience, Revenue – role of higher education in South-East Europe; Globalization in Europe – has the EU lost the momentum?.
The research themes of the participants attending the Danube Rectors’ Conference (DRC) Summer School should overlap with the previously mentioned themes. However, this does not necessarily mean excluding other subjects outside these areas; on the contrary, the diversity of themes is encouraged. As such, candidates are encouraged to send their research proposals which also elaborate on other relevant problems.
