What are BIPs?
Going beyond the boundaries of traditional courses, BIPs are a form of mobility within the Erasmus+ programme. Depending on the topic and organisation, such a programme can attract students from different disciplines and from a wide range of countries, including countries outside Europe.
As part of a Blended Intensive Programme, students first participate in a period of online study. The virtual session is then followed by a 5-day physical mobility period at another CIVIS member university (in another country), giving participants the opportunity to learn alongside professors and students from across the Alliance, and beyond.
Why take a BIP?
Within CIVIS, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) have already been organised for 4 years, and hundreds of students have discovered that their dream of studying abroad can become a reality in a new, convenient, and innovative way. Visiting another country, in order to study alongside students from across Europe, at no financial cost, is one of the greatest advantages of BIPs.
This type of programme offers a rewarding experience, combining the acquisition of knowledge with active engagement and meaningful encounters.
Main participation requirements
Each course has its own requirements. For most of them, the main language of instruction is English – therefore, a minimum level of proficiency in English is required, as well as knowledge of the programme’s main field.
For many of the BIPs, the selection process is also based on students’ CVs and motivation letters, so particular attention should be paid to preparing these documents.
Completing a course gives participants between 3 and 9 ECTS credits, depending on the workload. Regardless of their level and field of study, students from within the Alliance can now apply to these programmes directly through the CIVIS portal. Students may apply for a maximum of two programmes within the same call. More information is available here.
