Hassan II University of Casablanca will host the first African–European Forum on Research and Education from 25–27 March 2026. The event will bring together researchers, academic staff, administrative staff, and institutional leaders from the 17 member universities of the CIVIS Alliance across Africa and Europe.
The Forum aims to:
- Showcase joint Afro-European research addressing major societal challenges;
- Encourage and co-develop new collaborative research projects and educational initiatives;
- Engage societal stakeholders from Africa and Europe in the co-creation of impactful solutions;
- Strengthen institutional ties to foster long-term scientific and educational exchange.
The Forum will serve as a platform for presenting cutting-edge research dedicated to today’s global challenges, while also stimulating the development of new joint research projects and educational programmes.
Through this initiative, CIVIS universities on both continents reaffirm their shared responsibility to address global challenges—together and as equal partners.
Contributions are expected to address one or more of the CIVIS Alliance thematic areas, including climate, environment and energy; society, culture and heritage; health; cities and urban mobility; or digital and technological transformations.
Participants may choose from a variety of formats, such as panel discussions, Tandem Talks delivered by mixed teams, or interactive poster sessions in digital or video format.
Contributions are welcome from all 17 CIVIS member institutions, from early-career researchers as well as research staff, academic staff, university leaders, and institutional partners.
To be eligible, proposals must include:
- Identification details of the author(s), indicating the person who will deliver the presentation at the Forum in the case of co-authored submissions;
- A short biography for each author (maximum 150 words);
- A clear and concise abstract of no more than 300 words;
- Discussion questions for the audience;
- The full text written in English.
Submissions from researchers affiliated with institutions outside the CIVIS Alliance are also welcome. However, please note that funding cannot be provided for these participants.
Participants wishing to submit joint proposals (such as panels or tandem presentations) must apply individually and clearly indicate the collaboration in the application form.
