Included in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects since 2017, since its launch, the University of Bucharest occupies, this year, the first position nationally in two subfields, namely Mathematics and Earth Sciences.
Internationally, Mathematics subfield at the University of Bucharest is ranked in the 151-200 range, while Earth Sciences subfield is in the 301-400 range.
At the national level, the University of Bucharest is followed, in Mathematics subfield, by the “Babeș-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca (301-400) and the University of Craiova (401-500), while in Earth Sciences subfield, the University of Bucharest is followed by “Babeș-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca, positioned in the range 401-500.
This year’s ranking includes over 1,800 universities from the approximately 5,000 higher education institutions that applied, from 96 countries.
Launched in 2017 to provide detailed information on university performance across fields of study, the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects assesses university performance in five major fields: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. Within them, according to the ranking methodology, 54 subfields are analyzed.
For each field, the ranking tracks a number of indicators, including the results and impact of research activity, international collaboration, or international academic awards.
