Romania won eight medals at the second edition of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), held from August 2–9 in Beijing, China.
The competition brought together 284 participants from 53 countries around the world, highlighting the events’ scale and prestige.

- Asandei Ștefan-Alexandru, National College “Iași,” Iași
The national team was trained and coordinated by Mihai Nan, lecturer at the Politehnica University of Bucharest; Bogdan Miron, student at Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca and member of the scientific committee of the Nitro Association; and Carla Crivoi, master’s student at the University of Bucharest and also a member of Nitro’s scientific committee.
They accompanied the team to China, together with Prof. Daniel Popa of the Union of Computer Science Teachers of Romania and Dr. Chris Luntraru, member of the technical committee, both attending as observers.
The University of Bucharest was also represented on the International Scientific Committee by Prof. Dr. habil. Radu Ionescu and Assist. Lect. Miruna Zăvelcă.
