The University of Bucharest is taking an important step toward strengthening a culture of excellence in teaching by organizing, for the first time, a conference dedicated to teaching innovation and the exchange of best practices within the academic community. The event will take place on June 25–26, 2026, and is open to all faculty members of the University of Bucharest, regardless of faculty or academic rank.
The initiative aims to create an open space for dialogue and reflection on how university teaching can better respond to the current needs of students.
Faculty members interested in participating are invited to submit an abstract in Romanian (maximum 200 words), accompanied by 5-7 keywords to: education.conference@geo.unibuc.ro by June 1. The results of the selection process will be announced by June 10, 2026.
The conference is built on the idea that university teaching is a dynamic, continuously evolving process. The design of learning experiences, interaction between faculty and students, assessment methods, and the creative use of technology all play a crucial role.
Participants are invited to deliver presentations of up to 20 minutes, designed in accessible language for an interdisciplinary audience, with a focus on concrete results and relevant examples from their teaching practice.
Through this initiative, the University of Bucharest reaffirms its commitment to excellence in education and aims to highlight pedagogical practices that genuinely transform the learning experience. The conference will encourage teaching innovation, critical reflection, and the adaptation of methods to student diversity and the contemporary challenges of higher education.
At the same time, the event establishes the first formal institutional framework dedicated to recognizing and disseminating innovative teaching practices, contributing to the development of an academic culture based on collaboration, peer learning, and continuous improvement.
According to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, the University of Bucharest ranks among the top 25 universities worldwide for “Quality Education,” one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.
In the overall ranking, the university is placed 93rd globally and ranks first in Romania—marking the first time a Romanian university has entered the global top 100 of this ranking.
Its best result was achieved for “Goal 5 – Gender Equality,” where the University of Bucharest ranks 3rd worldwide.
