Out of the desire to share the best practices to implement Service Learning, and to allow the exchange of practices and transfer of innovation between the members of the university community, 5 CIVIS universities, coordinated by Eurasia Net developed the project Service-Learning: Intersectoral Collaboration Practices for the development of students´ soft skills and socially engaged universities.
The project, implemented in partnership with other 4 universities members of the CIVIS Alliance (The Autonomous University of Madrid, Aix-Marseille University, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Sapienza University of Rome) is coordinated at the level of the University of Bucharest by professor Magdalena Iordache-Platis, PhD, lecturer Delia-Laura Popescu, PhD, associate professor Marilena Bratu, PhD, professor Otniel Ioan Bunaciu, PhD, associate professor Cristian Buică-Belciu, PhD, as well as Raluca Amza , Erasmus responsible.

Mapping Service Learning implementation practices, coordinated by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
Mapping the existing practices in the universities was the first step in the development of the project in order to collect meaningful quantitative and qualitative data that could lead to better understanding of institutional pedagogic cultures about SL. This work was coordinated by the NKUA, which prepared and implemented all necessary steps and materials for the collection of required qualitative and quantitative material.

Training sessions coordinated by the Autonomous University of Madrid
The Autonomous University of Madrid carried out one of the activities of the project consisting in the organization of a training on Service-Learning in which more than 50 teachers from European universities participated. These courses were aimed at teachers and teaching coordinators from the five partner universities and were designed to familiarize them with the theoretical aspects of Service Learning, as well as to promote the integration of this methodology into curricula. The aim was to promote active learning and civic engagement for students as part of their university career.

Bucharest European Forum and Service-Learning Guidebook, coordinated by the University of Bucharest
From 25 to 28 June 2024, the partners participated at the European Forum on service-learning which brought the project to a close. During this highly instructive week for the whole consortium, 10 interactive and stimulating sessions were held to share feedback as well as the eagerly awaited presentations and awards ceremony for projects led by socially committed students. 80 participants from the five countries shared their experiences and worked together to finalize and disseminate the final guide to facilitating the implementation of service-learning.
