The Faculty of Geography of the University of Bucharest will continue, in 2024, to get actively involved in the “Green Week” program. A group of professors from the faculty has developed a support project at pre-university level, which consists in organizing lectures, workshops and debates with subjects associated to the objectives proposed by the Ministry of Education.
Between March 6th – May 29th 2024, the professors of the Faculty of Geography of the University of Bucharest will meet with pupils registered in the program each Wednesday (from 10 AM to 11 AM) in physical (at the Faculty headquarters, Nicolae Bălcescu Boulevard), online or hybrid format. Each activity will last approximately 45-50 minutes.

Open call for professors at pre-university level
Professors at pre-university level interested in this program have to register pupils at one or more events by sending an e-mail to the address secretariat@geo.unibuc.ro, mentioning the date and the title of the lecture they wish to participate to, the number of pupils and their group age, whether they will participate physically or online (where this is possible).
The first edition of the “Green Week”, a real success
For the academic year 2022-2023, organizing the “Green Week” program was initiated by the Faculty of Geography of the University of Bucharest as the response to a need formulated by the colleagues the in pre-university education system.
Between March 1st and May 30th 2023, we organized, in hybrid format, 12 lectures on themes recommended by O.M. Methodology 3629/02.02.2023 and with the expertise of the professors in our faculty. The initiative was a great success, revealed the organizers. In numbers, last year’s program meant: 12 lectures held in hybrid format, 11 teaching staff from the Departments of Regional Geography and Environment, respectively Meteorology and Hydrology of the Faculty of Geography, a few tens of volunteers from the Association of Geography Students, 216 high schools and even secondary-schools from Bucharest and 27 counties in Romania (Ilfov, Prahova, Dâmbovița, Argeș, Vâlcea, Dolj, Gorj, Timiș, Hunedoara, Sibiu, Brașov, Bistrița-Năsăud, Baia Mare, Satu Mare, Suceava, Bacău, Neamț, Botoșani, Vaslui, Galați, Vrancea, Buzău, Constanța, Tulcea, Ilfov, Călărași, Giurgiu), 221 pre-university level professors who registered and accompanied children, over 7100 participating pupils and among which 3000 who were present in the Faculty of Geography’s amphitheaters.
