Saturday, April 13th 2024, a team of students from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Bucharest participated in the national phase of the “Dragomir Hurmuzescu” Students’ National Physics Competition, which was held at the “Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca.
AT this year’s edition, the students of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Bucharest achieved remarkable results in all three categories:
- Three 1st prizes- Alexandru STRÎMBEI (1st year), Andrei Cristian OPINCĂ (2nd year) and Andrei MARIN (3rd year)
- One 2nd prize- Anton MOINESCU (1st year)
- One 3rd prize – Octavian IANC (3rd year)
- Two mentions – Nichita GHEREG (2nd year) and Andrei CONSTANTIN (4th year)
The competition, which has already become a tradition in the physics higher education landscape in Romania, reunited students from the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University in Iași, “Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca, West University in Timișoara and the University of Craiova.
The competition, meant to stimulate quality training, a competitive spirit and the desire to achieve performance among students in Physics from Romanian universities, is structured on study years:
- For students in the 1st and 2nd year, the contest is dedicated to solving physics problems in the domain’s fundamental areas (mechanisms, electricity and magnetism, molecular physics and heat, optics), in conformity with the theme of the competition.
- For students in terminal years (3rd year, respectively 4th year – Technological Physics), the competition consists of the oral presentation of the results of the research of each competitor, on a certain theme, usually the one chosen for the Bachelor’s thesis or the diploma project.
We wish to congratulate the entire team of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Bucharest that took part in in the competition – our students and colleagues, teaching staff from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Bucharest who were involved in preparing and unreeling the local stage of the “Dragomir Hurmuzescu” Students’ National Physics Competition, said the representatives of the Physics Faculty.
