Between July 24 and August 7, 2022, the University of Bucharest organizes the 60th edition of the “Romanian Language, Culture and Civilization Summer Courses”.
For the eleventh year, after an online edition last year and a year of absence in 2020, the courses will be hosted by the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest, as an expression of over 60 years of tradition in promoting the Romanian language, culture and civilization.
26 students from all over the world will participated in this year’s edition: Bulgaria, Korea, Croatia, Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Nigeria, Holland, Poland, Romania, Spain, Serbia and the United States of America.
The official opening of the Summer Courses took place on Monday, July 25, starting at 17:00, in the Library of the Faculty of Letters (Edgar Quinet Street, no. 5-7). At the opening ceremony, welcoming speeches were addressed by professor Mugur Zlotea, PhD, vice-rector of the University of Bucharest, assistant professor Mihaela Cristescu, PhD, vice-dean of the Faculty of Letters, professor Liviu Papadima, PhD, director of the Center for Romanian Studies, and associate professor Ionuț Geană, PhD, director of the summer courses.
The official opening also included the launch of the last issue of Romanian Studies Today, the scientific review of the Center for Romanian Studies, published by the Publishing House of the University of Bucharest. Alexandra Teodoru, a graduate of the Faculty of Letters, gave a piano recital with pieces from the Romanian repertoire, ending the evening with four artists who presented a moment with traditional dances. The opening ceremony was moderated by professor Ionuț Geana, PhD.
