During the 19th and the 25th of February 2018, the University of Bucharest continues the project entitled “The International Weeks of the University of Bucharest” (IWUB) by holding events dedicated to the Italian culture.
The official opening of the event will take place on Monday, the 19th of February, in the Odobescu Amphitheatre of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures (5-7 Edgar Quinet Street), starting with 14:00.
The guest of honor to the official opening of the event is E. S. Marco Giungi, the ambassador of Italy. Other important figures will partake to the event, such as Associate Professor Sorin Costreie, Ph.D., pro-rector of the University of Bucharest, Professor Liviu Franga, Ph.D., dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, as well as Professor Mianda Cioba, Ph.D., director of the Department of Roman, Iberian Romance Languages and Italian Linguistics. The opening ceremony will present the latest published books in the field of the Italian language: Cauda pavonis by Mugur Hanibal Stănciulescu and the bilingual collection The Italian Library of the Humanitas Publishing House, coordinated by Professor Smaranda Bratu Elian, Ph.D.
The students of the “Jacqueline” ballet school have also prepared a brief Balet Tarantella napoletana show, and the students of the National University of Music in Bucharest will perform Neapolitan canzonettas as well as opera arias.
Through this event, the students of the University of Bucharest will enjoy the opportunity of discovering the defining elements of the Italian culture, by partaking into conferences, workshops, films, a carnival and many other activities. The Italian Cultural Week is held by the Department of Roman, Iberian Romance Languages and Italian Linguistics within the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute, with the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, with the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, the National University of Music in Bucharest, the National University of Art in Bucharest and the Humanitas Publishing House.
The event is coordinated by Associate Professor Oana Bosca-Mălin, Ph.D. from the Department of Roman, Iberian Romance Languages and Italian Linguistics within the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
