From November 6 to 9, 2024, the University of Bucharest, in collaboration with the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History and the Romanian Academy, organized the 12th International Congress of Zoology (ZoologyCon 2024).
This highly anticipated event welcomed researchers, academics, and enthusiasts from across the globe to Bucharest for a series of scientific sessions, presentations, and interactive discussions aimed at advancing zoological sciences.
Set in the historic University House of Bucharest, ZoologyCon 2024 showcased cutting-edge research, innovative methodologies, and the latest discoveries in zoology. Over three days of dedicated sessions (November 6-8), researchers from countries as diverse as Austria, Belgium, China, Mexico, and Romania participated, offering plenary talks and specialized presentations on a variety of topics, including:
- Paleozoology
- Faunistics and Zoogeography
- Systematics and Taxonomy
- Evolution, Phylogeny, and Phylogeography
- Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation
- Valorization of Zoological Collections
- Citizen Science

In addition to sessions by professional zoologists, ZoologyCon 2024 emphasized the role of citizen science in zoology.
