The University of Bucharest launches Romania’s first Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies

Starting with the 2025–2026 academic year, the University of Bucharest is opening Romania’s first faculty dedicated entirely to interdisciplinary studies: the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies (FSI).

This new faculty addresses a growing need in today’s world—to understand and tackle complex challenges from multiple perspectives. From climate change and systemic crises to public health issues and rapid technological advancements, we are clearly facing dynamic challenges. Bachelor’s Program: Public Health Services and Policies

Starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, you’ll have the opportunity to enroll in a new undergraduate program designed to explore interdisciplinary themes.

The first bachelor’s program offered by FSI is Public Health Services and Policies—an interdisciplinary path that combines elements from medicine, administrative sciences, geography, sociology, computer science, and environmental studies.

Recent global health crises have underscored the vital role of public health experts in shaping effective policies. The field continues to grow, and graduates with public health expertise are in high demand in public administration, healthcare infrastructure, NGOs, consultancy firms, and international organizations.

In this program, you’ll learn to evaluate public health policies and services from multiple angles, work in multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to developing practical solutions to today’s complex health challenges. Course topics include: Biological, Genetic, and Infectious Foundations of Population Health, Communication for Public Health, Leadership in the Public Sector, Strategies to Combat Major Chronic and Infectious Diseases.

The program spans 3 years, is offered full-time (on-site), and grants 180 ECTS credits upon completion.

For this admission session, FSI is offering 25 tuition-free spots (state-funded) and 50 tuition-based spots.

How to apply to FSI

For the 2025–2026 academic year, admission to the Public Health Services and Policies program will be based on an application review process.

The admission average will be calculated as follows:

• 50% from the grade obtained in the Romanian Language and Literature written exam (as part of the national Baccalaureate)
• 50% from the grade in another written Baccalaureate exam, chosen by the candidate.
