Between 9 and 11 September 2025, academic staff from the Faculty of Administration and Business of the University of Bucharest took part in the annual meeting of the Erasmus+ project Accelerating the Triple Transition in European Retail through Skills – Skills4Retail, held in Vienna.
The event brought together representatives of Junior Achievement organisations from several European countries, educational partners, and key stakeholders from the retail sector. Discussions focused on the organisation of upcoming training and professional development courses for retail specialists, opportunities for their accreditation and recognition, as well as the development of the project’s long-term sustainability strategy.
Skills4Retail is a European initiative funded through the Erasmus+ programme, aiming to support the sustainable transformation of the retail sector by developing workforce skills in three key areas: digitalisation, sustainability, and resilience.
The University of Bucharest delegation included Assoc. Prof. Cosmin Olteanu, Assoc. Prof. Cătălin Grădinaru, Lect. Ștefan-Alexandru Catană, and PhD candidate Anca Hoțoi.
This autumn, the project will continue with the launch of a VET Training Programme featuring modular courses and work-based learning competencies. The programme will be tailored to three target groups: new employees, retail managers, and training and development professionals. Representatives of the University of Bucharest will deliver courses for students and new employees on topics such as Retail Customer Experience, Digital Marketing, and Introduction to E-commerce.
Skills4Retail is an Erasmus+ project dedicated to supporting the triple transition towards a green economy, digital skills, and resilience in the European retail sector. The project addresses industry and labour market needs by developing essential digital competencies in commerce and preparing the European workforce for a dynamic and sustainable future. The initiative brings together 30 partners from 9 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Romania, and Hungary.
