Between 26 and 30 January 2026, the University of Bucharest, through its Faculty of Administration and Business and Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, will host the International Markstrat Competition for the third time, as part of the DUKENET European Consortium.
The event will bring together approximately 50 professors, mentors, and students from Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, Belgium, and Romania. All activities will take place at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work of the University of Bucharest (90–92 Panduri Road, District 5).
The Markstrat Simulation Game is a team-based learning experience that integrates strategic thinking, marketing expertise, intercultural collaboration, and vision development. Participants work in international teams, make decisions based on a dedicated handbook, and prepare reports outlining their team’s vision, mission, and strategy, while also demonstrating strong proficiency in English. The competition concludes with project presentations evaluated by an international jury composed of professors from the participating universities.
Throughout the simulation, teams are required to demonstrate effective teamwork, rapid and spontaneous decision-making, problem-solving abilities, resilience under pressure, self-assessment skills, and the capacity to respond efficiently in critical situations.
The DUKENET Consortium offers an excellent international framework for sharing experience and fostering meaningful academic and professional connections among its member institutions. The University of Bucharest has been affiliated with the consortium since 2008, alongside universities from Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, and the Netherlands.
