The University of Bucharest is hosting, for the Romanian team, the competition test of the International Chemistry Olympics 2022 (IChO 2022), which takes place between July 10-18, 2022, in Tianjin, China, in online format. The initiative aims to develop scientific thinking and promote the importance of science in the development of critical thinking.
Thus, the team of students participating in IChO 2022 from Romania was selected following a process started at the National Chemistry Olympics 2022, organized in Baia-Mare, and is composed of four students: Alexandru Dianu, 12th grade, International Theoretical High School of Informatics in Bucharest, Vlad Iova, 12th grade, “Emanuil Gojdu” National College in Oradea, Teodor Pădureanu, 12th grade, “Ferdinand I” National College in Bacău and Vlad Ristache, 11th grade, “Tudor Vianu” National College in Bucharest.
The competition test of IChO 2022 was organized and took place on July 13, 2022, in the “Grigore C. Moisil” amphitheater of the University of Bucharest, and the team of mentor professors and supervisors, coordinated by acad. Marius Andruh was composed of professor Daniela Bogdan, teaching staff at the National College “St. Sava” in Bucharest, lecturer Mihaela Matache, PhD, lecturer Codruța Popescu, PhD, assistant professors Anca Păun, PhD, and Adrian Apostol, PhD, from the University of Bucharest.
The training of the national chemistry team and the selection for IChO 2022 were carried out within the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Bucharest, in collaboration with university professors from “Babeș-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca, the Politehnica University of Bucharest and the West University of Timisoara.The awarding ceremony of the 54th edition of the International Chemistry Olimpics – IChO will take place on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 13:00.
