The event titled “University, society, creativity”, will bring unto the Scene of Thought three rectors of some of the most representative Romanian universities, who will have a dialogue on the present and future of higher education in the era of digital society.
The debate will start at 6.30 PM at the Bucharest National Opera (70-72 Mihail Kogălniceanu Boulevard) and will be moderated by lecturer Daniel Nica, PhD, teaching staff at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies of the University of Bucharest and coordinator of the Opera’s conference program.

How have universities adapted to the most recent social and technological transformations? What are the stakes and the directions for the coming period? How does the university manage to maintain relevance in an epoch marked by rapid changes and complex challenges? Is the classic university model of the 19th century still appropriate for the current times? Which is the fundamental goal of a higher education institution nowadays: modeling characters, producing and transmitting advanced knowledge or training good professionals, adapted to contemporary society? What is the contribution of research universities in developing and improving the society? What is the role of education through art in modeling harmonious, balanced and creative personalities? To what degree are university rankings relevant and important for the Romanian academic space? What are the shortcomings and dysfunctions in Romanian universities? What do the universities learn from their moral crises?
These are just some of the questions that the guests will be challenged to answer in March at the event hosted by the Bucharest National Opera. The dialogue will be accompanied by several musical moments performed by artists of the Bucharest National Opera, and will be transmitted live by TVR Cultural.
