The Faculty of Baptist Theology of the University of Bucharest has inaugurated, in collaboration with the Providența Foundation and in partnership with the Somebody Cares Association, within the project The Reading Caravan, two new reading centers. Thus, the number of reading centers has reached six, covering the areas Ilfov, Giurgiu, Argeș and Bucharest. This extent will allow over 130 pupils to benefit from access to books and the dedicated testing application for literacy abilities.
The aim of the project is to promote the development of literacy abilities, inviting pupils to actively engage in reading activities and to test their knowledge on the dedicated web platform.
The Reading Caravan is an innovative project integrated in the Service-Learning programs of the University of Bucharest. Within this program, both professors and students of the Faculty of Baptist Theology contributed to the development of the quiz application, elaborating questions that would support the education of children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“The Reading Caravan” is an initiative dedicated to the improvement of literacy and education among children in vulnerable communities. By offering them access to books and using the testing app, pupils have the opportunity to develop their text reading and understanding abilities, thus contributing to their educational development and preparing them for a better future.
