On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, faculty members and researchers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science (FMI) of the University of Bucharest were among the laureates of the 2025 Romanian Academy Awards, presented during a ceremony held in the Aula of the Romanian Academy.
The Romanian Academy Awards are granted annually to Romanian scientists, cultural figures, and artists from Romania and abroad, in recognition of significant contributions to the advancement of Romanian science and culture. The distinctions honor works and creations completed in 2023 and are conferred in accordance with the Academy’s regulations, across its 14 scientific sections.
Within the Section of Mathematical Sciences, researchers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Bucharest were honored for results achieved in the field of mathematical research.
The “Gheorghe Țițeica” Award was granted for the set of two articles entitled “Locally Conformal Kähler Geometry on Complex Spaces with Singularities,” authored by Ovidiu Preda and Miron-Ion Stanciu.
In addition, the “Gheorghe Lazăr” Award was awarded for the set of two articles “Contributions to the Study of Ideals and Toric Varieties,” authored by Grigore-Marius Vlădoiu.
During the same ceremony, the “Academic Merit” Award was conferred upon the Romanian Mathematical Society, on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of its founding.

The award ceremony took place in the presence of the members of the General Assembly of the Romanian Academy and was broadcast live on the institution’s YouTube channel.
