The University of Bucharest announces the launch of descopeRO.unibuc.ro, a platform designed to showcase the work of Romanian researchers at the University of Bucharest in a way that is accessible, relevant, and useful to the wider community. The platform highlights their contributions to understanding key aspects of life and quality of life in Romania.
descopeRO.unibuc.ro is a science communication platform – transparent, accessible, and public-oriented – that brings together research projects, publications, and significant scientific results. Its goal is to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge produced at the University of Bucharest and to stimulate dialogue between the academic community, policymakers, public institutions, and civil society.
The platform is designed for both the academic community and representatives of civil society, public authorities, non-profit organizations, and the private sector who are interested in integrating research findings into public policies and institutional practices. The research featured on descopeRO.unibuc.ro covers globally relevant fields, contextualized for Romania, including public health, education, demography, environment, economics, and digitalization. It reflects the University’s core values: academic excellence, freedom of research, and social responsibility.
“With the launch of descopeRO.unibuc.ro, we aim to build a genuine bridge between research and society. The platform highlights the contributions of University of Bucharest researchers to understanding contemporary challenges and to developing evidence-based solutions for issues that matter to Romania. The descopeRO.unibuc.ro project naturally complements the UB Researchers’ Map, an initiative that charts the expertise and international presence of UB researchers. While the map offers a structural overview of the University of Bucharest’s research community, descopeRO.unibuc.ro focuses on research content and impact, bringing scientific results and their social relevance closer to the public and to future public policy development,” explains Professor Carmen Chifiriuc, PhD, Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Bucharest.
The descopeRO.unibuc.ro platform is part of a broader effort by the University of Bucharest to enhance the visibility of research results and make them accessible and useful to society, alongside other initiatives within the UB Science Communication Program. Coordinated by the Communications and PR Department, this program promotes scientific activity carried out at the University of Bucharest as well as in other academic and scientific communities. It also aims to create opportunities for new connections and collaborations among researchers. Other successful initiatives led by the Communications and PR Department to promote academic research and increase the public visibility of scientific results include projects such as “UB Conferences – Science Explained for Everyone,” “SKEPSIS,” “UB Dose of Science,” “Microscope: UB researcher at the microphone,” as well as the recently launched “UB Researchers’ Map,” available at www.hartacercetatorilor.ro. The descopeRO.unibuc.ro platform is developed by the Communications and PR Department in collaboration with the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest, which also coordinates the series “Project Under the Microscope” and “ICUB Research Meetings”.
