The University of Bucharest (UB) is offering more than 5,800 places in its 2026 autumn admissions session. Applications are open for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes offered by the University’s 20 faculties, with each faculty following its own admissions calendar. Detailed information is available on the University’s admissions website, admitere.unibuc.ro, as well as on the individual faculty websites.
For bachelor’s programmes, the University of Bucharest is offering 2,339 places, including 317 state-funded places. At master’s level, 3,538 places are available, of which 205 are state-funded. The University is also offering 52 places for its Teaching Master’s programmes, including 2 state-funded places.
To make the admissions process as accessible as possible, the University of Bucharest allows applicants to pay the application fee online through the dedicated online payment form. Applicants can also submit their admissions applications online.
Record Number of Applicants in the Summer Admissions Session
During the 2026 summer admissions session, the University of Bucharest recorded a record number of applications, alongside significant increases in the number of applicants to several bachelor’s and master’s programmes.
Across the University as a whole, competition for state-funded places reached 6.1 applications per place for bachelor’s programmes and 3 applications per place for master’s programmes. In the summer admissions session, the University offered 4,868 state-funded bachelor’s places and 3,252 state-funded master’s places.

The University is also ranked first in Romania and among the world’s top 200 universities for its contribution to sustainable development, according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026, one of the most widely recognised international rankings assessing universities’ contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The University’s strongest result in this ranking is for SDG 4 – Quality Education, where it ranks 3rd among universities in Europe and 40th worldwide.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 rank the University of Bucharest first in Romania in six subject areas: Linguistics, Modern Languages, English Language and Literature, Political Science, Chemistry and Geography.
Most recently, the QS World University Rankings 2027 reaffirmed the University of Bucharest’s position as Romania’s leading comprehensive university. The University is ranked in the 801 – 850 band globally, strengthening its international standing in research, graduate employability, academic reputation and sustainability.
Internationally, the University ranks 233rd worldwide for Employment Outcomes and 465th for Employer Reputation. It is the highest-ranked Romanian university for both indicators, highlighting its ability to prepare graduates with the skills and expertise needed to compete in an increasingly global labour market.
