Friday, July 19th 2024, students of the Theatre Pedagogy Master’s within the I.L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest (UNATC) invited the UB community, students, teaching staff, administrative staff and alumni to the Dimitrie Brandza Botanical Garden for an event that ended the week dedicated to celebrating 160 years since the founding of UB and 330 years of higher education in the Romanian space.
During the event, the UNATC students organized the theatre play The last night of love, the first night of war by Camil Petrescu, which started at 7 PM.
The last night of love, the first night of war is a play which presents the story of love and war that the main character, Ștefan Gheorghidiu, experiences, both love and war being pretexts for the deepening of his mental processes, receiving the form of life and death situations. In parallel with the aesthetic stake, the story also has an educational one, as the main character plays the role of a guide in relation to the spectators, who are invited to look at their own experiences and historic context through the lens of the episodes represented on stage.
The show is part of the project Theatre for the Baccalaureate and is a production of the Theatre Pedagogy Master’s (UNATC Bucharest, Acting Department).
Lasting 50 minutes, the play will bring in front of the UB community students Vlad Anghel (Ștefan Gheorghidiu), Adriana Mitu (Ela), Silvia-Alexandra Bem (Captain Dimiu, Traveler 1), Paul Pristavu (Captain Corabu, Traveler 2) and Fabian Ciobanu (Lieutenant Orișan, Predescu). Starting 7 PM, prepare for an encounter with biology, chemistry, physics, geography, psychology and education sciences, explained by teaching staff, researchers and students of the University of Bucharest members of the teams forming the projects SciResCareer and ResPonSE. We will show you how to scientifically explain what passions you most, or, if you are good at chemistry quizzes, come join us to spend our afternoon together.
In addition, George, the first intelligent Banking by BCR, invites the UB community, students, teaching staff, researchers, administrative staff and alumni to a live set by DJ Christian Thomson in the picnic area.
Starting 6 PM, George invites the UB community to attend a financial education course, with prizes for the participants who pay the greatest attention to the BCR experts’ advice.
The series of events dedicated to the anniversary of 160 years since the foundation of the University of Bucharest and 330 years of higher education in the Romanian space were organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and with the support of the Romanian Commercial Bank – BCR, KPMG Romania, Kaufland Romania, the Civil Society of lawyers Stoica & Asociații and Aqua Carpatica.
