On 22–23 October 2025, the University of Bucharest, through the ArchaeoSciences Platform – ICUB, in partnership with GEODAR – ICUB (Romania) and Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest (Hungary), is organizing the DOMINO-CLIMATE Romania scientific working workshop.
The event will take place at the ArchaeoSciences Platform & GEODAR Laboratories, within the Faculty of Biology of the University of Bucharest, in the “D. Brandza” Botanical Garden (Intrarea Portocalelor no. 3, Sector 6, Bucharest).
The workshop is dedicated to interdisciplinary analyses of paleoclimatic, paleoecological, and archaeological data obtained from south-eastern Romania (the sites of Coțatcu, Geangoești, Căscioarele, Săveni, and Vitănești), associated with the Kodžadermen–Gumelnița–Karanovo VI (KGK VI) culture and the Cernavodă I phase (c. 4500–3600 BC).
The main goal of the event is to correlate preliminary results and prepare a joint scientific article focused on synthesising archaeological and paleoclimatic data, integrating chrono-stratigraphy and 14C dates, and harmonising paleoecological and archaeological archives at a regional scale.
The event brings together researchers from national and international institutions: Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest; the University of Bucharest – The Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB), the Faculty of Geography, and the Faculty of Biology; the “Vasile Pârvan” Institute of Archaeology, Bucharest; the National Museum of Romanian History; the “Curtea Domnească” National Museum Complex, Târgoviște; the Buzău County Museum; the Lower Danube Museum, Călărași; and the Ialomița County Museum.
The workshop will be held in person and is an internal one, intended exclusively for the research teams involved in the project in question.
