Between January 29th – February 2nd 2024, the University of Bucharest organizes, trough the Faculty of Business and Administration and the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, the international competition Markstrat, which brings together 64 professors, mentors and students from Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Bulgaria and Romania. The event is hosted at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work (no. 90, Panduri Street).
Professor Magdalena Iordache-Platis, PhD, UB vice-rector for Students, quality management, sustainability and social responsibility, spoke in the opening of the event on January 29th, followed by interventions from associate professor Constantin Vică, PhD, UB vice-rector for Internationalization and Public Relations, professor Răzvan Papuc, PhD, dean of the Faculty of Business and Administration, and professor Diana Ioniță, PhD, coordinator for the Modern Applied Languages section within the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
Markstrat Simulation Game means working in international teams, making decisions based on well-studied handbook, elaborating two reports which highlight the vision, mission and strategy of the teams, English competencies, all these culminating with the presentation of the project, evaluated by an international jury of professors from the 6 participating universities.
The medals obtained represent added value in the employment portfolio of the students attending the competition.
Not lastly, in order to take a place on the podium, the participating teams will demonstrate competencies regarding team work, speed and spontaneity in making decisions or finding solutions, working under stress, self-evaluation competences and critical situations reactions.
Professors, mentors and students of the University of Bucharest
For this year’s edition, coordinating professors who will participate on behalf of UB are professor Magdalena Iordache-Platis, PhD, professor Diana Ioniță, PhD, professor Răzvan Papuc, PhD, associate professor Daria Protopopescu, PhD, teaching staff at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and lecturers Ștefan-Alexandru Catană, PhD, and Cătălin Grădinaru, PhD, both from the Faculty of Business and Administratipn. In addition, Alexandra Marcu, Maria-Luiza Stancu, Codruț Cristea, Adina Maria Ghiță and Dragoș Silviu Bojian – previous winners of the competition – are the mentors of this year’s UB team, which comprises 16 students from the Faculty of Business and Administration and the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
Gold for the University of Bucharest: students and teaching staff of UB on the European Competition Markstrat
In the previous editions of the competition, the University of Bucharest won the podium several times. Last year, in 2023, during the competition organized in Kassel, Germany, the 7 students from UB obtained a gold medal (Tiriplica Cristian Ionuț), a silver medal (Tîrchilă Miruna), 5 bronze medals (Marcu Amalia-Alexandra, Marinescu Andreea, Manea Andra Diana, Stancu Maria-Luiza, Castellano Luca Anton), and four gold medals obtained by coordinating professors from the University of Bucharest.
