On Monday, 2nd of December 2024, members of the UB academic community are invited to the training event „Open Science – Policies and Practices”, within „The Science Career Project” of University of Bucharest.
The event will take place online on the Zoom platform from 16:00-18:00.

This session will explore the concept of open science, with a focus on policies and practices that facilitate open access to knowledge. We will cover the fundamental principles of open science, the importance of transparency in research, and its impact on collaboration and innovation. Additionally, we will discuss current European and national policies, along with the challenges and opportunities of implementing these practices in academia and industry.
About the trainers
Dr. Mihnea Dobre (ICUB-Humanities) works in the field of the history of philosophy and science, in which he has published numerous studies. Mihnea is interested in new digital research practices (Digital Humanities) and open forms of collaboration, communication, and dissemination of research results (Open Science). From 2021 to 2023, he coordinated Module 5, „Mainstreaming of Open Science”, in the RIS4CIVIS project. Within the CIVIS alliance, he co-coordinates the Open Science group with colleagues from Aix-Marseille Université (AMU), participating in discussions about CoARA and Open Science practices in Europe.
Dr. Alina Irimia coordinates Open Science activities at the Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development, and Innovation (UEFISCDI), collaborating with international initiatives and organizations such as OpenAIRE, RDA, Science Europe, and CoNOSC, of whose Board of Directors she has been a member since 2023. She is also an Open Science expert at the UNESCO Chair for Science and Innovation Policy at SNSPA. From 2019 to 2022, she led the development of the strategic framework for open science in Romania, resulting in the White Paper on the Transition to Open Science. Alina earned her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Bucharest, focusing on the sociology of science and the importance of sharing scientific results with society at large.
