Among the themes addressed in the new CIVIS Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) are courses focusing on cities, territories, and mobilities. These programmes aim to explore both experimental models and theoretical and technological innovations in these fields, offering students the opportunity to gain an interdisciplinary understanding of how urban spaces and contemporary societies are shaped and transformed.
Applications for this BIP series are open until 30 October 2025.
The available courses are:
- Healthy Urban Systems – HUS
- Cities, Spaces, and Mobilities: Collaborative approaches to global challenges
These courses bring together teaching staff and researchers from several CIVIS member universities and offer participants the chance to examine topics related to sustainability, urban transformations, local governance, and the impact of mobility on territorial development.
Each BIP is developed, organised, and delivered by academic staff from at least three CIVIS member universities, combining online teaching sessions with five days of physical mobility in one of the host countries of the participating institutions. Detailed information on course content, schedules, and application procedures is available on the individual page of each programme.
For most programmes, English language proficiency, a CV, and a motivation letter are the main selection criteria. Successful completion of a BIP is rewarded with 3–9 ECTS credits and recorded in each participant’s CIVIS Passport.
The period of physical mobility is financially supported through CIVIS funds, provided that the applicant is not simultaneously receiving another Erasmus grant. Further details are available on the dedicated CIVIS BIPs webpage.
