The University of Bucharest announces the launch of the Harta cercetătorilor UB (UB Researchers Map), an interactive platform that highlights the presence of members of the university community at international conferences and academic events. Available at www.hartacercetatorilor.ro, the platform displays geolocated pins with information about the participation of UB researchers, professors, and PhD students in scientific conferences, workshops, and other research-related activities around the world.
From Seoul to San Francisco, and from Oslo to Cape Town, members of the UB academic community will now be able to showcase their global presence, further strengthening the university’s international academic reputation. In fact, according to the Times Higher Education – Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025, the University of Bucharest is ranked first among Romanian universities and in the 301–350 bracket worldwide for interdisciplinary scientific research.
“The UB Researchers Map reflects the work of an open, dynamic, and constantly (inter)connected scientific community, using modern technologies and digital solutions. Through this platform, the University of Bucharest reaffirms its role as a facilitator of scientific dialogue at national and international levels. International visibility is not only a recognition of our value – it is also the courage to reaffirm our confidence in a set of principles that drive new partnerships, projects, and innovative ideas. This is why we have consistently encouraged interdisciplinary connections at the University of Bucharest, convinced that dialogue is essential for rediscovering our shared humanity. Now more than ever, we must remain connected, committed to our enduring ideals, and available as mentors and discoverers of new models,” notes Professor Carmen Chifiriuc, PhD, UB Vice-Rector for Research.
The launch of the UB Researchers Map reinforces the University of Bucharest’s commitment to supporting and promoting its researchers by offering them visibility and international recognition. The platform is a valuable resource and a concrete tool for everyone involved in academic mobility, demonstrating the University’s active support for global knowledge exchange. It can also directly assist in identifying potential partners and collaborative projects within the UB community.
The UB Researchers Map is part of a broader initiative by the University of Bucharest to highlight research outcomes and make them accessible and useful to society, alongside other projects within the Science Communication Program. Initiated in 2018 and coordinated by the UB Communication and Public Relations Department, the Science Communication Program promotes the scientific work carried out within the University of Bucharest as well as in other academic and research communities. The program also aims to create opportunities for new contacts and collaborations among researchers. Other successful initiatives of the University that promote scientific activities and popularize research results include “UB Conferences – Science Made Easy,” “Discussions with SKEPSIS,” “UB Science Dose,” and “microSCOP: UB Researcher at the Microphone.”
