Research Interests

My research focuses both on the synthesis of organic compounds and on obtaining extracts from plant materials. Synthesis of heterocyclic compounds with biological activity: amide derivatives of pyrazoles with local anesthetic, antiarrhythmic, analgesic, anticonvulsant activity; aminopyrazole derivatives, Mannich bases with antidiabetic, antibacterial, antibiofilm, antitumor activity; hybrid heterocyclic compounds such as benzimidazolo-pyrazoles, triazolo-pyrazoles with antibacterial, antibiofilm activity; separation of enantiomers from the racemic mixture; of Schiff bases derived from formyl-camphor, formyl-menthone, formyl-carvone with aromatic amines; isolation of the active principles from the extracts obtained; analytical methods specific to organic chemistry in order to elucidate the structure and investigate the physical-chemical properties (NMR, UV-VIS, IR, MS).

I established two international collaborations with Emeritus Professor Mino R. Caira from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and with Branko Drakulic, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Technology and Metallurgy, Belgrade, Serbia.
